Biden: He thought that he could split NATO.
US President Joe Biden thinks that Russian leader Vladimir Putin was surprised to find that he could not separate NATO allies in their reaction to the aggression in Ukraine.
The head of the US state spoke to the media during a trip to the Polish capital, Warsaw, where he met with Ukrainian government ministers, as well as with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
“I am convinced that Vladimir Putin was counting on the ability to divide NATO, to divide the east side from the west, to be able to divide nations based on past histories,” he said.
“But he could not do that – we all stood together. “I think it is so important that we, Poland and the United States, are one step closer together.”
He also says that history has shown the importance of the US not standing aside during the conflict in Europe.
We note that the US president this morning met with senior Ukrainian state officials and promised them support over defense after Russian aggression.
Otherwise, Biden is expected to meet today to meet some Ukrainian refugees who are in Poland.
