Biden does not back down from comments about Putin.
US President Joe Biden has said he “will not apologize” after he said last week that Vladimir Putin should not stay in power, adding that he had simply expressed “his moral outrage”.
Asked by reporters if he regretted saying Putin should not remain in power, Biden said: “I am not backing down… I did not do that then, nor will I do it now. “I just expressed the moral outrage I felt, and I do not apologize for that,” Biden said.
“No one believes that I talked about the overthrow of Putin… no one believes this… I have expressed my anger at the behavior of this man,” he added.
Recall that Biden during his visit to Poland where he met with Ukrainian refugees, told reporters that Putin should not remain in power.
However, US officials immediately reacted, saying that Biden had not called for a change of regime in Russia.
