Turkey commits to revive the wheat deal

Turkish officials are trying to win back Russia after it pulled out of a United Nations-brokered deal to allow grain shipments from Ukraine.

Moscow suspended its participation yesterday, saying it was as a result of a drone strike in Crimea.

Turkey’s Defense Minister, Hulusi Akar, said that both sides should avoid any “provocation” that could affect the agreement.

Grain shipments from Ukraine’s Black Sea ports had been halted during the occupation, but the deal allowed tons of food to be sent out into the world.

We emphasize that Crimea was annexed in 2014 by Russian forces and that it has been under their control since then.

Otherwise, Russia has launched an unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine on February 24, causing casualties and material damage.
