Facebook warns of apps that steal passwords

Meta

Meta has warned millions of Facebook users that their account information may have been compromised by third-party apps downloaded from the Google and Apple stores.

In the latest report, security researchers at Meta have identified over 400 dangerous apps designed to steal Facebook user account credentials.

Apps are designed “for fun and utility,” such as photo apps, camera apps, VPN services, horoscopes, and fitness apps.

The apps often ask the user to log in to their Facebook account before accessing the promised features.

However, this is only one of the methods of stealing Facebook user information, namely passwords.
