Over 110 kilograms of pure cocaine were seized in the port of Catania today.
Foreign media report that the drug, divided into 96 blocks, was found in several containers of tropical fruit from Ecuador, arrived on board a motor ship coming from South America.
Fiamme Gialle customs officers and soldiers noticed that a container had an irregular weld on the roof and thanks to the intervention of firefighters, they discovered the drug load.
After the action of the Guardia di Finanza of the provincial command of Catania, more than 110 kg of cocaine, worth 12 million euros, was seized.
Afterwards, the drug was also analyzed by the chemical laboratory ADM Catania, which found a very high percentage of purity equal to 80%.
