Oliver Blume, the executive director of Porsche, and now also the new executive director of Volkswagen, after Herbert Diess left this post, has warned that he wants to maintain the pace of this company – that is, towards electrification.

The new director of VW has noticed that this car manufacturer would have to find the right pace, with which it knows how to be a leader in the field of electrification of cars.

Blume, during the meeting with VW’s managing debt in Lisbon, said that he “wants to maintain this tempo, and where he sees how far he has gone, he also wants to increase this tempo a little.”

The June report suggests that Volkswagen will surpass Tesla in terms of electric car sales in the next 18 months.

It is even predicted that this German giant will sell 800,000 units of electric cars this year, while in 2023 this sale will reach 1.3 million, which will undoubtedly reduce Tesla’s growth.

In other words, this year Tesla aims to sell 1.5 million electric cars, almost twice as much as VW, and if it maintains this sales pace during the next year, it would have to sell over 2 million cars.
