Google may be working on a second Pixel ‘Pro’ tablet

9to5google writes that their team has found signs that Google may be working on a second Pixel tablet for next year, labeled as the “Pro” variant.

Since Google I/O, fans of the Pixel series have been eagerly waiting for more details about the Pixel tablet that Google announced it would launch in 2023.

Further from 9to5google they make it known that they have closely followed the development of the device in question and that earlier they had reported how it would double as a smart Google Assistant screen just like the Nest Hub.

However, since the first announcement of Android 12L at the beginning of the year, Google has been trying to show the ways that large-screen Android devices – and especially tablets – can be made useful for productivity.

That continued today, with Google introducing new tablet-focused mini-apps for Keep and Drive.

Much speculation surrounding the Pixel tablet so far has suggested that Google would want to keep costs down with lower-spec hardware.

After all, it’s primarily meant to serve as an additional screen for movies, TV, and more in your smart home, while also expanding the Nest Hub Max’s ability to handle video calls as well.

From previous findings, the Pixel tablet won’t have camera features that rival any recent Pixel phones.

In this theorized scenario, the Pixel tablet would be closer to the Pixel 6a than any flagship — not exactly something Android tablets can actually do.

The trend of “Pro” hardware models made by Google started last year with the introduction of the Pixel 6 Pro and continued recently with the Pixel Buds Pro.

In the case of the Pixel 6 Pro, that device had the same chip as the smaller Pixel 6 phone, but with a bigger screen, more RAM, and a telephoto camera.

So far, the only noticeable difference between the Pixel tablet and the Pro variant is that the rear camera sensor will not be the same.
