Erdogan: Greece has no value for NATO

Turkey

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, referred to the relations between this country and Greece, as well as the possible impact of these relations on a military-political alliance such as NATO.

Among other things, Erdogan also commented on Greece’s negative statements about Turkey’s membership in NATO.

“NATO is strong if Turkey is in it. NATO is not strong without Turkey. Greece’s negative attitude towards NATO does not weaken our relations with that organization,” Erdogan said to reporters.

The Turkish president also commented on Greece’s behavior during the reconnaissance mission of Turkish planes over the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean and called Athens’ actions a hostile act.

“Greece has provoked NATO and its allies by increasing its hostile attitude, which began to be reflected through the harassment of our airspace and up to the activity of the S-300 system against Turkish F-16 aircraft. However, it must be said that Greece has no real value for NATO”, he said.

The head of Turkey also commented on Greece’s moves at the beginning of the week and said that Greece is a bad neighbor.

“Unfortunately, this bad neighbor constantly harasses Turkey in various ways in the Aegean Sea. I would like to clarify once again that our naval, land and air forces will never compromise in any kind of harassment”, said the Turkish president.
