Covid

Omicron, its variants and subvariants are still present, and the symptoms of the disease are changing again.

In addition to the usual symptoms, doctors in India noticed that some patients are now reporting new symptoms that include diarrhea, decreased urine production and chest pain.

“The number of acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction (heart attack) is increasing in patients with COVID-19. There are patients who report non-specific symptoms like chest pain, decreased urine output, diarrhea and then test positive for COVID,” says Akshay Budhraja, senior consultant in respiratory medicine at Aakash Healthcare.

In addition to the mentioned symptoms, doctors have noticed the following symptoms:

– dizziness

– extreme weakness

– temporary loss of smell and taste

– fever

– cough

– shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

– fatigue

– muscle or body pain

– headache

– sore throat

– runny or stuffy nose.

The omicron BA 2.75 subvariant has a higher transmission rate. It was recently discovered in Delhi.

WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan said BA.2.75 appeared to have mutated in a way that could indicate a “major immune escape”, which could mean people who already have antibodies from the earlier type could are infected with this subvariant.

However, the good news is that this variant does not cause serious illness. Doctors also noted that the actual recovery period for most patients lasts about a week.
