Turkey says it has neutralized 16 terrorists in Syria.

Turkish soldiers have neutralized 16 “terrorists” of the Kurdish forces of the People’s Defense Units (YPG) in northern Syria, according to the Ministry of Defense in Ankara.

“This was in response to the attacks,” the ministry announced on Twitter on Sunday.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently threatened a new offensive in northern Syria.

Turkey justifies this with alleged attacks.

Past Turkish offensives were also directed mainly against the YPG, which Ankara classifies as a branch of the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and also as a terrorist organization.

Ankara already occupies areas near the border in northern Syria.

Ankara regularly conducts military offensives there against the PKK, which is also considered a terrorist organization in the US and Europe.
