All civilians were evacuated from the Azovstal

All civilians were evacuated from the Azovstal.

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshcuk told on her Telegram channel that all women, children and the elderly had been evacuated from the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol.

Earlier this week it was estimated that 200 civilians were still trapped inside the plant – the last remaining Ukrainian stronghold in the city.

“This part of the Mariupol humanitarian operation is over,” Vereshchuk said.

The southern port city besieged in Ukraine had been targeted by Russia since the beginning of the war.

Several humanitarian corridor attempts have been made in the past two weeks, but in recent days Ukrainian officials have reported progress in evacuating.
