Twitter is testing a CC button for video subtitles

Twitter is testing a CC button for video subtitles.

Twitter announced on Friday that it is testing a new “CC” button to enable and disable subtitles on videos with available subtitles.

According to foreign media, the feature is being launched for some users on iOS and will come “soon” on Android, the company says.

Today’s announcement comes as Twitter recently launched improved alt text accessibility features globally. Images with alt text will now contain an “ALT” badge in the corner of the image. When you hover over the badge, you’ll see the user-generated image description.

As shown in a video posted on Twitter from the Twitter Support account, the button appears in the upper-right corner of a video attached to a tweet.

The company also confirmed weeks ago that it is working on a long-sought-after feature to edit posts, which is initially being launched to its Twitter Blue paying subscribers.
