Russia imposes sanctions on Harris and Zuckerberg

Russia imposes sanctions on Harris and Zuckerberg.

Moscow today expanded the list of people barred from entering Russia.

It is a response to Western-imposed sanctions, which bar many Russian officials and oligarchs from entering Western countries.

Russia’s latest move includes the banning of US Vice President Kamala Harris, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and 27 other American officials, journalists and businessmen.

The U.S. and several other allied countries have imposed extensive sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. Some of the sanctions include banning Russian oil imports, partially removing the country from the SWIFT banking system, and freezing assets of Russian oligarchs suspected of having been aiding the Kremlin.

Russia’s sanctions against Zuckerberg follow earlier actions taken by the Kremlin to limit access to Facebook because of claims that the social network was blocking access to several Russian news outlets.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby was also barred from entering Russia.

“These people are barred from entering Russia indefinitely,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry.
