23 tons of cocaine are seized in Germany.

As part of an international operation, German police arrested 11 people suspected of participating in the smuggling of 23 tons of cocaine.

According to police, the group is part of the organization that transferred that large amount of drugs from South America to Europe.

Police on Wednesday said they searched 35 buildings in a series of raids, focusing on Hanover but with operations in several other cities in at least two other provinces. Police, customs and other services from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Paraguay took part in the investigation.

“Today’s measures are one of the main points of the investigation that we have been conducting secretly since 2020,” said Frido de Vries, president of the Lower Saxony provincial criminal police.

“As part of the same investigation, we have already seized 130 kilograms of marijuana in cocaine last year, with one million euros in cash,” De Vries said.
