Trudeau: Zelensky is defending the rights of Ukrainians.
Canadian lawmakers greeted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with long applause before he addressed them via video link.
The Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, welcomed Zelensky and applauded his courage as Russia continued its aggression in Ukraine, saying, “Your courage and the courage of your people inspire us all.”
“You are defending the rights of Ukrainians to choose their future, and in doing so, you are defending the values that form the pillars of all free democratic countries – freedom, human rights, justice, truth, the international order.” said Trudeau.
Earlier in the day, Canada imposed new sanctions in response to the Russian occupation of Ukraine, including restrictions on 15 Russian officials who enabled and supported the election of President Vladimir Putin to occupy the country said the Foreign Minister Melanie Joly.
Otherwise, Russia has continued today with aggression in the Ukrainian state causing dozens of civilian casualties.
